Overview

Description

Alhamdulillah, MMTQ has successfully run its Hifz class since the early 2000s. Since its establishment, more than 22 students have completed the memorisation of the Holy Qur’an at MMTQ. Many of our graduates now lead Tarawih prayers in masjids across Bradford and throughout the UK.

Our Hifz class continues to flourish under the guidance of a dedicated teacher. In the past year alone, three students successfully completed their Hifz, including one student who memorised his final 12 juz in just ten months. Through structured memorisation, regular revision and individual support, we aim to nurture confident Huffaz who develop a lifelong connection with the Book of Allah.

Course Content

Our Methodology

Memorising the Quran is a commitment and students will require full support from both home and madrasah. Full attendance is mandatory and family gatherings, social events etc will need to be arranged outside of class times. The budding Hafiz will require parents to provide support through ensuring they learn at home and parents will be required to take time out to listen to them recite and encourage them. Their diet should be healthy and nutritious and their exposure to sinful content online should be managed in order to achieve the best possible outcome for the student.

In class, students will recite daily:

  • Sabaq: This is new sabaq that the budding Hafiz will learn every day.
  • Sabaq Para: This is last few days of sabaq that is repeated every day in order to consolidate memorisation
  • Dor: This is revision of a juz or half a juz of Quran daily in order to maintain the memorisation of it
Virtues of Hifz

Memorising the Quran is an honour and privilege that Allah bestows upon the one who memorises the Quran and their parents. It elevates their status in both worlds in many ways. Some of these benefits are:

Automatic leadership in the community

A hafiz of the Quran automatically qualifies as the worthiest of leading prayer in congregation, is given priority in burial positions and respected by discerning members of the community. The Prophet ﷺ said “Indeed Allah will elevate some people with this book and he will degrade others with it.” (Muslim)

It shows Allah intends good for them

The Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever Allah intends good for He gives him the understanding of the religion.” (Bukhari). The greatest understanding of the religion is the recitation and memorization of Allah’s book, because it is the first source of legislation.

They will be the people of Allah and His chosen

The Prophet ﷺ said, “Verily, Allah the exalted has people from among mankind, and the people of the Quran are the people of Allah and his chosen ones.” (Ahmad)

Honouring them is a form of honouring Allah.

The Prophet ﷺ said, “Verily, it is a form of honouring Allah, the most high, that the grey-haired Muslim is respected and the one who carries (memorizes) the Quran without exaggeration in it, nor neglecting it.” (Abu Dawud)

They are automatically safe from the trial of the Dajjal

The Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever memorizes ten verses from the beginning of Surah Al Kahf, he will be protected from the Dajjal.” (Muslim)

They raise higher and higher in Paradise

Ibn ‘Amr reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, that: “It will be said to the companion of the Qur’an after he has entered Paradise, ‘Recite, and rise!’ For every verse he recites he will rise one level (in Paradise), until he recites the last verse with him (i.e., in his memory).” (Abu Dawud)

They will wear the garments of honour

The Prophet ﷺ said, “The Quran will come on the Day of Judgement and say, ‘So Lord! Adorn him. ’So the person will be made to wear the crown of honour. Then it will say, ‘Oh Lord! Increase him!’ So the person will be made to wear the garment of honour.
Then it will say, ‘Oh Lord! Be pleased with him.’ So Allah will be pleased with him. Then it will be said, Recite and ascend.’ And the person will receive an extra good deed for every verse (that he recites of the Quran).” (Tirmidhi)

The Quran will intercede for whoever loves it on the Day of the greatest Terror that is the Judgement Day. The Prophet ﷺ said, “Recite the Quran, for verily it will come on the Day of Judgement as and intercessor for those who recite it.” (Muslim)

The Highest Honour for the Parents of the Memoriser of the Qur’an “Mu’aadh al-Juhani narrates that the Prophet ﷺ said, ‘Whosoever recites the Quran and practices upon its injunctions, the reciter’s parents will be given a crown on the day of Qiyamah. The brightness of that crown will be more intense than the brightness of the sun in your actual house.’ The Prophet further said: ‘What do you think will be given to the Hafiz (reciter) of the Quran himself?’” (Mishkat)

The Quran will be a proof on the Day of Judgment.

The Prophet ﷺ said, “The Quran will be brought on the Day of Judgment along with its people who acted according to it. They will be preceded by Surah Al Baqarah and Al Imran, and these two Surahs will plead the case of whoever recited them.” (Muslim)

They will be in the companionship of the honoured ones and angels.

The Prophet ﷺ said, “The one who recites the Quran proficiently will be with the honourable and obedient scribes (of the angels).” (Muslim)

They are rewarded for every letter they recite during memorisation and recitation.

The Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever recites one word from the Book of Allah will be rewarded for a good deed and ten more like it; and I don’t say that Alif Lam Mim is a letter but Alif is a letter and Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter” (Tirmidhi)

They gain safety and salvation from the Hell-fire.

The Prophet ﷺ said, “If the Quran is gathered in a body (i.e., a person) Allah will not burn him with the Fire.” (Baihaqi)

Their hearts are safe from destruction
The Prophet ﷺ said, “Verily, He who does not have anything inside of him of the Quran is like a demolished house.” (Tirmidhi)

Jannah for the one who memorised the Qur’an

Ali (RA) reports that the Prophet ﷺ said, “Anyone who knows the Quran by heart and follows the lawful and the prohibited according to it, he will be sent to Heaven by Allah.” (Tirmidhi)

There is double reward for those who try hard to memorise the Qur’an.

Aishah says the Prophet ﷺ said, “The likeness of the one who reads Quran and memorizes it is that he is with the righteous honourable scribes. The likeness of the one who reads it and tries hard to memorize it even though it is difficult for him, he will have (at least) a double reward.” (Bukhari)
